Year of New Beer: There Gose the Neighborhood, Against the Grain Brewery (Louisville)

Brewed in conjunction with The Aviary and Fountainhead, this brew takes the old German gose and stands it on its head. A radical nose of charred red peppers, tart lime, and a briny tang give only a glimpse of what lies ahead. On the tongue, the citrus acidity buffers against the bite of smoked peppers, while a toasted cracker malt that is reminiscent of a wood fired pizza crust peeks through somewhat timidly. Finally, the sour lime and salt dig in through the finish. Leave it up to the crew from AtG to brew this crazy ass beer that I couldn't put down. Bonus points for the killer label art!
