Year of New Beer: Bell's Mars, Bell's Brewery (MI)

The nose starts out with fruit--pineapple, mango, drunken apricot--while piney hop notes lurk underneath. On the tongue, an initial caramel and honey sweetness cannot withstand the onslaught of pine and herbal dankness. Fruit notes manage to resurface amidst the resinous hop oils and warming alcohol, but ultimately are relegated to the background. This is a delicious, "big boy" double IPA.
