Year of New Beer: Up The Creek Extreme IPA, Thomas Creek Brewery (SC)

Immediately, the visual tells you this isn't your average Double IPA. The color screams malty, and that's exactly what you get. The aroma is loaded with juicy pineapple and even leans toward some raisin, with a bit of evergreen. On the tongue is a seriously malt forward brew with a ton of brown sugar that overpowers the piney hop resins. This much more resembles a barleywine than DIPA (not that there's anything wrong with that!). And amazingly, the 12.5% ABV is extremely well hidden.
