Year of New Beer: Several at a Share

Written By: Dion on 02/06/2016

An impromptu bottle share afforded me the opportunity to get small samples of several really nice beverages today, making it difficult to select only one to feature. Three stood out, however. First was Criminal KLP from Crafted Artisan Meadery/Cigar City (OH/FL). Very delicate and sweet, this captured the essence of key lime pie in a glass. Crazy good, making me regret only buying one. Next was Hiver Joie, Wicked Weed Brewing (Asheville). Deliciously sweet dark fruits give way to a tart kick of citrus peel and an earthy bourbon barrel note. Thanks to Kyle for sharing. Lastly was Calico Jack, Olde Hickory Brewery (NC). Dark, bittersweet chocolates blend seamlessly with a roasted malt before punching you in the face with rum spices. Killer brew.
