Year of New Beer: Bourbon Barrel Aged Agamemnon, Omnipollo (Sweden)

From the moment this beer hits the glass, it is apparent that you are in for a lush, decadent experience. The nose is sweet and rich, as raisins, cherries, and figs sink into dark chocolate, coffee, charred oak, and a trace of soy. On the tongue, the maple sweetness is present but subdued, accentuated by a burnt caramel and gentle bourbon heat. Dark fruits take on an almost port-like quality, with a slight roasted nut and earthen char adding to hints of smoked meats. Thick and viscous with a remarkably well-hidden alcohol, this is indeed delicious.
