Year of New Beer: Blackbeard's Breakfast, Heavy Seas Beer (MD)

Bitter chocolate, roasted malts and nuts, and a light coffee bean make up the bulk of the nose. More complex on the tongue as the coffee roast picks up steam, blending nicely with burnt oak, earthy hops, and traces of caramel. Charred bread crust, light soy, and a subdued bourbon add to the intrigue. This is really nice.
