Year of New Beer: Georgetown Tasting

Written By: Dion on 07/23/2016

Had the privilege of attending a bottle share in Georgetown this afternoon, sampling several nice beers, making it hard to choose any favorites. But I really liked Gravedigger Billy, Revolution Brewing (Chicago). Nice earthy peat and smoke aromas translate nicely to the tongue, joined by a subtle bourbon and oak influence. Very nice. Next was the Yesterday's Headlines Kiwi Berliner Weisse, Braxton Brewing (KY). Mild nose, with tart fruits and a bit of wheat. The flavors really expand as lemon, sour apple, and kiwi show up, followed by a light sweetness with warmth. (Thanks for sharing the bottle Matthew J Kehret). Lastly was Madcraft Nucleus, MadTree Brewing (Cincinnati). Honey sweetness, light chocolate, and dark fruits hit the nose and do not disappoint the tongue as the fig really opens up with warmth, rich and luscious as it combines with the chocolate. Very enjoyable.
