A rarity for me, back-to-back lagers on a hot summer day. First up was the Narragansett, which delivers as a moderately flavorful American adjunct. Light caramel and sweet grains hit the nose before translating much the same to the tongue. Pretty sweet, but also reasonably refreshing. Secondly was the year's first Oktoberfest, a style for which I have very little love. This one has a fairly subdued nose, featuring again notes of caramel and lightly toasted grains. Similar on the tongue, with the malt sweetness being balanced by a touch of spice and slightly floral hops. This is actually pretty solid for the style
