Year of New Beer: On Fleek, Stillwater Artisanal Ales (MD)

The nose is rich and roasty, with a background of coffee, cocoa powder, and burnt toast. On the tongue, this is all about the roasted malt. Charred malt, actually. Hints of dark fruit and soy provide some depth to the bitterness. Traces of leather and ash on a dry finish that leaves me wondering, how in the world is this 13%? Good, not great.
