Year of New Beer: Barrel Aged Bible Belt, Prairie Artisan Ales/Evil Twin Brewing (OK/NY)

Poured at a basement temp of about 62°, this releases a rich chocolate fudge, coffee bean, vanilla, and bourbon-soaked oak on the nose. The tongue see all of this and more with dark fruits and a mild cinnamon adding to the layers of flavor. The overall vanilla sweetness of the bourbon serves to tame the heat of the chilies a bit, giving this a deeper, more complex profile. Oily and viscous, it produces legs that cling to the glass and slowly retreat into a charred, sugary abyss. I was never that impressed by the regular Bible Belt, but this is on a completely different level. Sometimes an impromptu beer run pays off, and I'm glad I was able to snag this.
