Year of New Beer: Bouket, De Proefbrouwerij/Trillium Brewing (Belgium/MA)

Got to try pours of a few different things tonight, but this one was probably my favorite. Very unusual nose that blends the funky, yeasty aspects of the saison with a green apple note, as floral hops provide a subtle background layer. On the tongue, an initial fruity tartness gives way to a pale, bready malt. A bit of boxwood is fleeting through the mid-palate, as a slightly sweet graininess joins in. Unique finish as it somehow manages to be sweet, tart, and mildly bitter all at the same time. Very nice.
