Year of New Beer: King of Falling Fruit, Blackberry Farm Brewery (TN)

The traditional farmhouse notes of dusty hay and light spice serve as a wonderful backdrop for not only the expected plum and peach aromas, but also apple, grape must, and oak. The tongue again sees the classic saison characteristics initially, with an earthy funk offering a slight tartness and almost mineral crispness. With just a hint of elevated temperature, the fruits gradually move from sour to a more gentle sweetness. Plum, apple, and pear are all present, with only peach hanging on to its subtle but persistent puckering aspect. Lightly spiced with a dry oak on the finish. This is beautifully balanced and a true delight to drink.
