Year of New Beer: Rodenbach Alexander, Brouwerij Rodenbach (Belgium)

A little late to the party on this one, but that old saying about good things coming to those who wait? This bottle contains the "good things". Pungent cherry juice hits the nose first, with traces of red wine vinegar, sour apple, and lemon following. Warmth softens the cherries to something akin to pie filling. On the tongue is a perfectly balanced mixture of tart and sweet. Cherries again lead the way, with the aforementioned apple and lemon providing nice highlights amid hints of oak, leather, and light toast. This is absolutely stellar, a true delight for the taste buds. Another old saying? All good things must come to an end. But it doesn't mean I have to be happy about it.
