Year of New Beer: Apricot Sour, Avery Brewing (CO)

Ridiculous amounts of apricot threaten to overpower any other aspect of the nose. Warmth does bring an interesting trace of lime, along with a dry hay and dusty funk. The initial sip brings a jaw-clenching pucker of tart apricot. Cursory notes of peach, lime, and Granny Smith apple add to the sour sensations. Much like the aroma, warmth brings out dusty, dry oak as well as fleeting notes of jammy sweetness. Tart and dry through the finish. This is a really nice, reasonably priced sour.
