Year of New Beer: Living Proof: Peach Golden Wild, Country Boy Brewing (Lexington)

If you are a fan of sour beers, then the Boys have a treat for you this Friday. The latest installment in their Living Proof series, this one showcases tart peach in a manner that will surely leave you puckered up. The nose features the expected peach, sharp and biting in all of its unripened glory. Auxiliary notes of lemon add to the punch, while earthy oak and a dusty funk build with warmth. On the tongue, the sour peach hits with the impact of a warhead candy, spreading across the taste buds as it eases up to Sweetart-level sour. Cracker and a trace of bready funk across the middle, with an ever-present oak note lingering underneath. Lemon, green apple, and tart white grapes develop as the glass comes up in temperature. Dry and puckering on the finish. This is not for the sour beer neophyte, and the bottle is probably best shared. But I didn't, and I loved every last drop. Get your pucker on this Friday as bottles will be available in both taprooms.
