Year of New Beer: Cherry Tripel, Country Boy Brewing (Georgetown)

The only new beer on the board for me tonight, so it was an easy choice. Subtle cherry with hints of caramel and a light Belgian yeast on the nose. More prominent alcohol with warmth. Clean transition to the tongue as the cherry again presents more as an auxiliary note to the brown sugar, caramel, and yeast of the base beer. Warming alcohol through the finish. Whereas many cherry beers come off more as alcoholic cough syrups, this one exercises restraint and maintains the desired characteristics of the style. Overall, a good beer.
