Year of New Beer: Wrathmaker, Burial Beer Company (Asheville)

Opening with a burst of pineapple juice, the aroma quickly develops undercurrents of tangerine, mango, and pine. With warmth comes a dusty Brett note. On the tongue pineapple is again the star, but it is sweetened by the lactose addition. The tropical fruits are still discernible across the middle, but the bittering hops deliver an herbal, pine-laden bite on the finish, keeping the Brett influence in check. Really nice beer.
