Year of New Beer: Bourbon Barrel Aged Chili Porter, West 6th Brewing (Lexington)

Mostly chocolate and malt on the nose with no real hint of the chili pepper influence until it warms up a bit, and even then, it's subtle. Nice chocolate and roasty notes on the tongue, with a mild pepper bite bringing just a touch of heat. Traces of bourbon and oak, but they're definitely in the background as the chocolate leads the way. I'm not usually a fan of pepper beers, but this one is nicely balanced and very enjoyable.
