Year of New Beer (Rnd 1): Wrought Iron IPA, Abita Brewing (LA)

Cajun grub calls for a Big Easy brew, right? I've tried most beers from Abita, but this one was fair game for the quest. Nice aroma of orange peel and earthy hop bitterness with a touch of caramel malt. On the tongue, a slightly stronger pine resin begins to pull on the taste buds, while that brown sugar sweetness adds balance. Finishes sticky with a bite that accentuates the spice in some excellent pasta. If you ever find yourself driving to DC, stop off in Manassas and see our friend Charles at his restaurant for an outstanding taste of Louisiana.
