Cocoa powder, salted caramel, and coffee grounds fill the nose, with traces of raisin and toasted grains. On the tongue, the chocolate becomes sweeter, but not overly so as the slightest hints of salt provide balance. Earthy hops and a solid nut backbone make up for a slightly thin body. With warmth, the dark fruits and caramel influence become more pronounced. Overall, this is a really solid, enjoyable beer, and a nice complement to a grilled ribeye.
