Year of New Beer: Special Tasting

Written By: Dion on 10/08/2015

Every single day, since January 1, 2012, I have tasted a new beer. On some nights, like tonight, I'm lucky enough to taste several that are new to me. But nothing carries over to the next day, so I'm forced to single out one or two, give my thoughts, and move on to the next day, leaving the other beers, seemingly forgotten. But it's about so much more. It's about spending time with friends; people that understand your passion. Tonight was one of those nights. Tiny sips of excellent beers with great people...so while I may pick one or two, all were enjoyed in their own way. Standouts for the night (for me, anyway) included the Raspberry Eisbock Lager from Kuhnhenn Brewing (MI), which, in short, tasted like a chocolate covered raspberry. Slightly tart, wonderfully sweet, and incredibly delicious. Second was Another Alliteration from Saint Adairius (CA). Slightly tart, a but musty, with a touch of acidic fruit coming through a dry finish. Outstanding. Lastly was The Wanderer from The Bruery (CA). Blackberries and cherries combine with a bit of spicy oak to pucker the palate with a near perfect blend of tart, sweet, and sour. Again, a great night, and a huge thanks to everyone for sharing.
