Year of New Beer: Bo & Luke, Against the Grain Brewery (Louisville)

Written By: Dion on 10/25/2012

This Russian Imperial Stout, brewed in conjunction with De Molen (Netherlands), is aged in Pappy Van Winkle bourbon barrels. Not surprisingly, the nose is dominated by the sweet aromas of oaked bourbon. Complex on the tongue-dark fruits, vanilla, chocolate, smoke, and tons of delicious bourbon hit you in waves. Tapped last night at Country Boy Brewing. One of the best beers I've tasted all year. No need to search the country for good beers, plenty are being brewed in Lexington and Louisville.
