Year of New Beer: Westmalle Trappist Tripel, Brouwerij Westmalle (Belgium)

Yeast and spiced fruit on the nose, backed up by a tart apricot/apple peel on the tongue. As the beer warms it becomes soft and buttery with a touch of alcohol heat. Some of the world's most highly rated beers are produced by some of the world's greatest biblical scholars. Coincidence? I think not. This one is outstanding. Can't believe I haven't tried it before now.
